Meeting dates

An annual meeting must be held every year, within 18 days of election in an election year and on any day in May in any other year.

In addition to the annual meeting a Parish Council must hold at least three other meetings each year.

Extraordinary meetings can additionally be called at any time by the Chairman and any two members can request the Chairman (in writing) to call one.

Longhorsley Parish Council normally meets monthly.

Conduct of meetings

Longhorsley Parish Council aims to make its meetings:

  • efficient and business like
  • fair to all participants
  • effective in relation to the issues being tackled
  • not so formal as to be pompous or stuffy
  • good humoured

The Chairman if present shall preside. If not, the vice-chairman. If both are absent those present shall elect a member to preside. A quorum is three members or a third or the council’s membership, whichever is the greater.

Some Parish Councils include party political groupings but Longhorsley does not.

Minutes of previous meetings for the last 12 months are also available on this site.

Minutes of earlier meetings can be viewed by arrangement with the Clerk.

The Parish Council also organises the Annual Parish Meeting.  The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 10th May 2017 in the Village Hall at 6.30 pm.  The Agenda for the meeting can be found below.

The last Annual Parish Meeting was held on 18th May 2016 in the village hall. The draft minutes from this meeting are posted below.
